A car sells on ebay UK every two minutes
so a quarter of a million Brits a year can't all be wrong!
It is so much better than advertising in a magazine
(difficult to find exactly what you want;
while on ebay you can type in the keywords that describe what you're after)
or your local paper (fewer opportunities).

My 1960 Wolseley failed its MOT through chassis rust but nobody local wanted to buy it.
I advertised it on ebay with a starting price of £50, hoping to get 2 or 3 times that.
In the end it sold for £640!
There was actually a higher bid but the would-be buyer backed out
as the day after he found out he was to be a father.
The buyer was thrilled - he was expecting to pay more, so smiles all around
(he thought the number plate alone was worth it).
